2. LONG, DEEP & EMOTIONAL VERSION (LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED A KLEENEX)

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

As many of you know, I've been training for the past 6 months to run the New York City Marathon on11/7/05. Running the marathon has always been a life long dream for me and I've decided that I want to help a cause along the way.

I've teamed up with the New York Road Runner's Foundation and their "Team For Kids" foundation in order to raise money to support New York City public school physical education programs that teach track and field and other running activities.

"The 2005 NYRR Foundation Team for Kids is a special opportunity for ING New York City Marathon entrants. The Team consists of 500 marathoners who fund raise on behalf of the NYRR Foundation. Proceeds will enable 2,000 additional children to participate in Runnning Partners, school day and after school running-based fitness and character building programs. Running Partners currently serves more than 5,000 children a week in almost 100 schools and community centers."

As part of my responsibilities, in exchange for some fantastic marathon coaching from the New York Road Runner's organization, I've pledged to raise money for the organization.

I'd like to ask you all to join me in supporting this cause. So, here's what I'll do, I'll run the race and you guys can make a donation to the Team For Kids foundation by visiting the following web page and making a donation. In order to do so, you will need the following information:

3. The best part.

There will be a party on monday, 11/7 at a location to be determined in new york. this will not only be a good time, but it will give you all a chance to tell a "i saw chad have his first few beers after he was on the wagon for over 100 days" story.

I promise to deny everything and video cameras will not be allowed. camera phones will be held at the door.*

Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated, and please please please come out on 11/7. let me know where you will be!

thanks for taking the time to read this and let me know if you have any questions.

kind regards,

chad

* Home video and pay-per-view rights to the party will be awarded to the highest contributor.

last long run completed

so i completed the last long run of my training program and now i enter the final two weeks of training for the big race on 11/7. the last long run was a "simple" ten miler which i ran on the west side highway during daylight hours. the run was extremely swift and now runs of a 10+ mileage seem to require very minimal effort. i'll take this as a good sign.

im a bit sore after the run as my knee aches a bit. im still not sure if its the tendonitis or if its the surgical area from last year. when the weather gets a bit rainy, that also adds to the pain, so i need to let a little time go by in order to make a determination as to what it is.

tonight is an easy 30 minute run to recover from yesterday, so it should be an easy 4 miles.

ok! lets launch this mofo!

13 days to go!

13 days until the 26.2.

the big dance.

the big one.

ive just completed the email that i hope will raise over $2,500 to support the team for kids program which is part of the new york road runner's foundation. i'll post the email as a blog entry in hopes of raising some additional money outside of the email list which i've put together.
